Nominations for the 2015 IESANZ (The Illuminating Engineering Society of Australia and New Zealand) Lighting Design Awards have just closed and this year Lucid LCD have been nominated for the RMIT University Building 16 Student Lounge and the Dee Casa Restaurant in Southbank.
Dee Casa Restaurant
The Dee Casa Restaurant was the first Lucid LCD project undertaken in Melbourne. Baracon Developments engaged Lucid LCD to assess and provide options for lighting the ground floor space at Wrap Apartments – which was to be primarily used as a bar area for the new Dee Casa Restaurant.
The brief was for an environment that was interesting, whilst maintaining a dark and mysterious atmosphere. The end solution was to use contrasting downlights, concealed fixtures and provide highlights to the exposed brick.
RMIT Building 16 Student Lounge
The aim of the RMIT project was to create a new benchmark for student lounges at the university. The feel which RMIT wanted to create was one of an inviting bar, but well illuminated – whilst also adhering to a strict sustainability policy of all LED lighting.
The awards, which are held annually by IESANZ, occur separately within each state throughout Australia and New Zealand.
In the past, Lucid have been successful in the SA Chapter – receiving an Award of Excellence for the lighting design at the Lexus of Adelaide Showroom in 2013, and have received numerous nominations in the SA and Vic regions.
