The project adopted an adaptive reuse approach to meet the University’s sustainability objectives while providing high-quality student amenities and creating a new interface between the campus and its Parkville surrounds. Aswell as interfacing with existing heritage listed buildings on campus. The Enabling Project works involved the relocation of infrastructure services to enable the landscape to be developed. This included the installation of a new 6MVA substation and creation of a high efficiency thermal plant located within the Doug McDonell Building to serve the precinct.
The Main works included the full design and construction of two new buildings, Arts and Culture and Student Pavilion. Along with the full refurbishment of four existing buildings, Building 189, 1888 Building, ERC and floors 1-5 of Building 168
