VCAT planned to relocate from their existing offices to a newly refurbished 15,000m² space at 300 LaTrobe Street. A key challenge was integrating the fitout service requirements with both existing and newly upgraded base building services. This included developing coordinated fire safety strategies to support the change in building classification from Class 5 (commercial office) to Class 9b (public assembly).
Additional complexities involved designing acoustic dampening solutions and coordinating with the Acoustic Consultant to ensure plant and equipment met the stringent requirements of VCAT’s court operations.
The project required extensive stakeholder engagement to inform the spatial design, including consultation with First Nations advisory groups and human-centric design specialists. Coordination with the landlord ensured alignment between base building upgrades and fitout requirements.
For sustainability services, Lucid facilitated targeted workshops to identify stakeholder priorities and deliver practical, cost-effective solutions aligned with achievable environmental goals.
This project showcases Lucid’s capability to deliver complex government infrastructure within tight timeframes, while navigating rigorous budget oversight and extensive stakeholder coordination. Leveraging our expertise in correctional and justice facilities, we successfully contributed to one of Victoria’s largest civic infrastructure fitouts, a milestone that reflects our commitment to excellence and community impact.
