The Whyalla Secondary College project involved consolidating three existing secondary schools into one new purpose-built campus — a major step in transforming education outcomes for the region. This was not just a construction project, but a community investment in future learning.
Located alongside TAFE SA and the University of South Australia, the school forms the heart of Whyalla’s education precinct. The project needed to enable contemporary teaching models, foster connection to tertiary pathways, and address the practical challenges of regional delivery.
Lucid was engaged from early in the design process, working closely with the architectural team and Department for Education to develop a highly detailed Principal’s Project Requirements (PPR) brief. We ensured the services and infrastructure strategy aligned with the educational vision and would hold up through the design and construct (D&C) phase.
Once novated to the contractor, Lucid maintained design continuity and worked proactively with subcontractors — including regular site visits and remote collaboration — to meet tight regional delivery requirements.
