Adelaide Park Lands (Park 27) – Lighting Upgrade

Lucid was engaged to undertake the electrical distribution and specialist lighting design upgrade for the north-western Adelaide Park Lands (Park 27) opposite Bowden on Park Terrace.

The $10M project consisted of new carpark, pathway, children play area, skate area, barbecues and illuminated tennis and basketball courts. The pathway lighting follows the main path linking Port Road, North Adelaide Railway Station and Park Terrace underpass to Ninth Street, Bowden.

Project works spanned over two separate council districts and required documentation and liaison with differing project stakeholders. Our team worked in conjunction with civil engineers and landscape architects to provide lighting and electrical distribution solutions which were carefully coordinated and suited to the design of the space. Industry recognised lighting simulation software enabled confirmation of compliance with Australian Standard AS1158, Adelaide City Council and City of Charles Sturt design requirements.

Smart control systems included the provision of user-friendly push button controls mounted to lighting towers which provide operation of the lighting for a pre-programmed period of time. This can be adjusted as required. Time clock devices ensure operation of sports lighting is eliminated during curfew hours. Overall the site provides increased activity by the local community and enables opportunities for community activity especially from the newly developed Bowden community. The user-friendly nature of the lighting encourages use without the need for council bookings and key loaning.
