Memorial Drive Tennis Centre – Centre Court Development

The Centre Court redevelopment project was designed and constructed over a 10 month period and provided a new woven fibreglass membrane roof, new LED lighting and a refurbished international standard stadium and viewing pavilions to the Memorial Drive Tennis Centre in Adelaide.

The centre court area is capable of being configured for major tennis tournaments, concerts and community events, with the development including substantial upgrades to the existing infrastructure and the spectator stands in support of these activities.

Lucid completed the building services and sports lighting design for the new covered court and the tasteful feature lighting of the canopy and structural columns.

The Memorial Drive Tennis Centre was opened in time for the Adelaide International tennis tournament in 2020. The tournament was broadcast around the world and was the first event to held at the redeveloped tennis centre, with the $11M upgrade works completed in December 2019.

The Centre Court project was proceeded by last year’s Memorial Drive anchor project involving the redevelopment of the external courts, which was entered into the 2019 IES SA NT Lighting Design Awards, receiving an Award of Excellence for the lighting design.
