Westfield Carousel Shopping Centre Redevelopment 

The project involved the major expansion works of Westfield Carousel Shopping Centre in Cannington WA, resulting in a total centre size of 130,000m².

Leveraging our local WA retail experience, Lucid was appointed to deliver all building services disciplines for the $235M centre redevelopment which required either a modification or an upgrade to all services.

As part of the electrical services package, Lucid completed the design and documentation of a 3,200 panel 800kW solar PV array. Lucid undertook all aspects of the design including feasibility, preliminary layouts, life cycle costing and payback period assessments as well as detailed design and documentation (drawings and specifications). The PV array was installed on an existing site and thus required careful integration of the new system, including infrastructure upgrades and integration of safety devices to meet local power utility guidelines.

Key to the success of the live construction works was the implementation of a 3D-modelled and thoroughly coordinated common services trench reticulating around the perimeter of the development. Major high voltage, thermal plant and gas infrastructure upgrades were designed in Revit LOD400 in a staged manner by Lucid to minimise interruptions to maintain centre operations.

Finally, passive and active fire safety systems were upgraded and all aspects of the centre upgraded to comply with latest codes and standards including high hazard fire sprinkler protection and bespoke smoke exhaust and make-up air solutions.

Lucid completed the mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, fire and vertical transportation services for the project.
